Conversation at Night (Visual Art)

Mike Knowles

What is the significance of this work to you?

It corresponds to my appreciation of the weird and bizarre (although perhaps not as weird and bizarre as some of the images I come up with).

What is the significance of the form you chose for this work?

What is significant to me is that there’s far too much normality around. It gets boring. So anything out-of-the-ordinary is welcomed.

What was your process for creating this work?

The process merely involved coming up with the idea and then applying a judicious application of Photoshop. This excellent software enables me to edit my artwork without having to use a rubber or fill several waste paper baskets with paper whilst seeking the unattainable level of perfection that would enable me to sleep soundly. Whilst even Photoshop can never match my ridiculous standards, it does take some drudgery out of the process.

Mike Knowles has spent over 40 years working mainly in comics, along with contributions to TV, Radio, animation, gonzo-style journalism for a “top-of-the-shelf” magazine and odd spells as a digital artist.
